English for Academic Purposes (EAP)

Course overview

The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course is for students preparing to study in more complex tertiary education environments. It is delivered in two levels — EAP 1 and EAP 2. EAP 1 suits students who have just missed an IELTS of 5.5 (or equivalent) and want to study VET. EAP 2 suits students preparing for Advanced Diplomas and adult courses with technical terminology — equivalent in level to General English Advanced, with the macro-skill focus on academic writing, speaking and reading. EAP 1 + EAP 2 runs for 26 weeks with a 2-week break between levels. Students seeking entry into courses requiring IELTS 5.5 may exit after EAP 1 (12 weeks).

Exit point & award

CEFR levels — EAP 1: B1/B1+; EAP 2: B1+/B2. Formal assessment in weeks 6 and 12 of each study period, with weekly reviews.

Fast track your qualification by gaining credit for your existing skills and prior learning. If you have relevant experience or completed units / qualifications, indicate RPL / Credit Transfer in your application.
