Course overview

This qualification reflects the role of an individual working as a senior civil works designer or a paraprofessional designer, who supports professional engineers. They perform tasks that are broad, specialized, complex and technical and include strategic areas and initiating activities. They are responsible for the design of complex projects to ensure the implementation of the client’s site requirements and are required to demonstrate self-directed application of theoretical and technical knowledge and initiate solutions to technical problems or management requirements.

Entry requirements

Minimum age: 18 years at the time of enrolment
English language proficiency: IELTS 6.0 (5.5 in each module) or equivalent test accepted by the Department of Home Affairs. View accepted tests →

Education pathways

candidates may undertake a relevant bachelor degree (or Post-graduate certificate in business with a university or higher education provider).

Exit point & award

Students that successfully complete all 12 units of competency as stated in the Course Structure will be issued with RII60520 Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design. This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). Students that complete some but not all of the units of competency as stated in the Course Structure may be issued with a Statement of Attainment. It will identify only those units of competence that have been completed as part of the qualification and recognised nationally under the AQF.
