Course Information 

Mode of Study

 

This qualification is delivered to overseas students full time integrating the following blended modes of delivery:

  • Scheduled face to face class hours

  • Scheduled online learning hours

  • Self-study

Course Description

 

This qualification provides a trade outcome in painting and decorating for residential and commercial construction work. Licensing, legislative and regulatory or certification requirements for painting and decorating work differ between States and Territories. 

​

Completion of the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work, is required by anyone carrying out construction work.

Course Structure

​

CPC30620 – Certificate III in Painting & Decorating, to achieve this qualification, the candidate must demonstrate competency in 29 units of competency:

  • 26 core units.

  • 3 elective units.

A maximum of two of the four required elective units may be substituted by selecting relevant units of competency from any Certificate III or IV construction qualification or qualification in another endorsed Training Package

Entry Requirements

​

​There are no stated entry requirements into this qualification in the Training Package​

 

International Students

​

  • Innovative College (INVC) specific course entry requirements for CPC30620 Certificate III in Painting & Decorating for international students are as follows:

  • Must be 18 years of age or above at the time of enrolment


Academic Entry Requirements:

  • Australian Year 12 or equivalent of Australian HSC; 

  • , and oral communication


​English Language Entry Requirements:

​ 

  • IELTS score 6.0 (with no bands less than 5.5) or equivalent Pearson Test of English (PTE).

  • Depending on the student’s country of original, there may be additional English Language requirements that the student needs to meet to get a student visa. 

 

Numeracy and Literacy

​

All international students must have a minimum of IELTS 6.0  as per published English language entry requirements. Students who need to improve their language and literacy skills must undertake an ELICOS course to gain the required language level prior to commencement into CPC30620 Certificate III in Painting & Decorating.

​

Where it is determined that an applicant may not have sufficient English language skills to complete the qualification and work successfully as a carpenter, they will be provided with the following referrals:

  • Registered ELICOS provider to undertake an ELICOS course

  • The NSW AMES for formal assessment, placement and if necessary, specific English Language training.

NSWALNC is the peak body for the adult literacy and numeracy practitioners in NSW and have a detailed list of neighbourhood houses, neighbourhood learning centres, TAFE colleges and other providers who offer literacy and numeracy programs and support throughout NSW.

The Certificate III in Painting & Decorating is intended to prepare new employees or recognise and develop existing workers who are performing the role of:

  • Painter

  • Decorator

Education Pathways

​​

Further training pathways from this qualification may lead to one of the following Certificate IV level qualification in Building and construction – CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and construction.

 

Exit Point/Award

​​​

Students who complete all 29 units of competency as stated in the Qualification Packaging Rules and Units of Competency will be issued with CPC30620 Certificate III in Painting & Decorating. This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

​

Students who complete some but not all units of competency as stated in the Qualification Packaging Rules and Units of Competency may be issued with a Statement of Attainment. It will identify only those units of competency that have been successfully completed as part of the qualification and recognised nationally under the AQF.

​

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfers

 

Fast track your way to a formal qualification by earning credit for what you already know. If you believe you have related skills or have relevant units/qualifications obtained in previous successful studies, please indicate on your Application Form that you wish to apply for RPL/Credit.
