Course Information 

Mode of Study

 

This program is delivered in the classroom, and a simulated work environment, and through structured self-study that includes:

  • 13.5 hours of scheduled face-to-face classes per week

  • 6 hours of structured self-study, students are provided with access to a Self-Study Guide for completion of a range of activities.

  • Approximately 5 hours of additional unsupervised study.

Course Description

​

The Certificate III in Carpentry reflects the role of individuals working in residential and commercial carpentry, responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures using timber and non-timber materials. This qualification is suited to individuals seeking to develop core carpentry skills and build pathways to further employment or apprenticeship opportunities.

​

Completion of mandatory safety training is required before entering a construction site. Licensing requirements vary by state and territory. This qualification is suitable for an Australian Apprenticeship pathway.

Course Structure

​

​CPC30220 - Certificate III in Carpentry consists of Thirty-four (34) units including twenty-seven (27) core units and seven (7) elective units are required in accordance  in accordance with the packaging rules and are relevant to the work outcome, local industry requirements and qualification level.

Entry Requirements

​

​Students must be at least 18 years of age and meet the following entry requirements:​


Academic Entry Requirements:

​

  • Completion of Year 12 or equivalent

  • Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and individual needs


​English Language Entry Requirements:

​​

  • IELTS score 6.0 (with no bands less than 5.5) or equivalent Pearson Test of English (PTE).

  • Demonstrated ability to work at heights

  • Sufficient language, literacy, and numeracy skills, as tested through a language, literacy, and numeracy assessment

  • Achievement of ACSF Level 3 in reading, writing, numeracy, and oral communication

All classes are face to face and are held at 4 Marsh Street, CLYDE, NSW, 2142

Education Pathways

​

​After successfully completing CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry, students may choose to continue their education with higher education qualifications in the construction industry.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfers
